Selected photos of the penultimate Atoms ice hockey game in the season for the Rampaging Reds and Blue Snipers. Absent from the Reds lineup would be Zander Aliyev, and for the Blues. Anika Wegund. Goaltenders for the Reds would be Callum Shae, and Riley Knapp for the Blues. Jordan Kutsche would be in offence again for the Reds. Hudson Elze appeared to be in a more defensive role for the Snipers. It would be an interesting encounter with the teams otherwise at full strength and experience. The teams had swapped coaches with Stu Henly coaching the Reds hoping to instil some of his gameplay that has been so successful for the Blues this season.

The Rampaging Reds would open the scoring in the game at 15:44, when Jeremy Gagnon scored unassisted. The Snipers would even the game at 11:24 when Micah Ung teamed up with Hudson Elze. Two and half minutes later the Snipers would score the go-ahead goal and never lost the lead after that. The lethal Jack Fode scored the goal after an assist from Noah Robinson. Shots on goal for the period, Reds 3, Snipers 6. The Reds would need to post some more shots on goal to challenge Riley Knapp and force him to make an error.

In the second the Reds couldn’t find a way past the Snipers defence as they set upon Ilya Truuse shutting down his attempts to burst through along the barriers. He would run out of time to pass to a team mate. Truuse would be called for tripping, the first penalty for the game at 4:41 which didn’t help their fight. The Snipers used the powerplay to post another goal on the board as they dominated and the Reds couldn’t post many shots on goal. Ung would score his second goal of the game with an assist from Etienne Janovsky. With 2:09 left on the clock, the Snipers posted another with Elze scoring unassisted and starting to put the game beyond the reach of the struggling Reds. The Reds would however post a late goal with a minute remaining when Mickey Nottle chimed in after an assist from Truuse. Shots on goal for the period, Reds 3, Snipers 8.

The Snipers were playing with confidence which resulted in an almost immediate goal 6 seconds into the period as Fode scored his second goal of the game with an assist from Lachlan Henly taking their lead to 6-2. Robinson would add another goal for the Snipers at 15:38 after an assist from Elze. The Reds finally found some form and started a mini-comeback scoring goals at 7:17 and 6:43 left on the clock. The first goal would come from Nottle again, assisted by the hard working Poppy Kelly, and the second from Truuse, unassisted. The score now at 7-4 in favour of the Snipers. Truuse would again fall foul of the referee who cited him for tripping again at 4:48. With seconds remaining on the powerplay, the Snipers added another of two more goals. Fode scored unassisted, and then with their dangerous forward line of himself, Ung and Elze. With less than a minute remaining, the Reds would score the last goal of the game from the hard working and skilful Gagnon. An ugly incident occurred with 17 seconds left in the game as the Reds Truuse and Snipers Henly headed to the sinbin for roughing. Shots on goal for the game, Reds 13 for 5 goals, Snipers 23 for 9 goals.
