Photos from the 2nd game of the Pee Wee Roos Division ice hockey season between the Senators (white jerseys) and Panthers. After coming from a 4-1 win in game 1, the Senators were looking to consolidate their good form, but the Panthers were looking at finding a formula that worked. After some changes to the lines from game 1, the 1st period was tight with neither team finding a way through the defence players. An interference penalty was called on Panthers Ella Wandel at 5:53. The Senator immediately pounced on the player advantage and Luka Loria scored almost immediately at 5:50, unassisted. The 1-0 scoreline remained for the rest of the period. Shots on goal were Senators goaltender Brodie Clarke facing no shots, Panthers Riley Knapp 8.
Early into the 2nd period the Panthers Wade Patterson levelled the score after receiving a pass from Grace Kalambokas. The rest of the period remained tight with neither team finding a clear advantage. Shots on goal were Senators Clarke facing 7, and Panthers Knapp 5.
The 3rd period promised a race to the finish but both teams stood firm with both goaltenders batting away challenge after challenge. A slashing penalty to Patterson at 7:07 sent the Panthers into penalty kill mode and the defence would have to step up. But this didn’t last long and with the player advantage Senators Elliot Buley would put his team ahead at 6:48 with the assist going to Zeth Wyngarde, now sitting on 3 assists for the season. The Senators ground the game down but the Panthers still had one roll of the dice as Patterson found a way past Clarke with only 0:32 remaining on the clock. The assist went to Naomi Gagnon. Final score 2-2. Shots on goal for the game were: Senators Clarke 12, Panthers Knapp 22.
