25/10/2020 Pee Wee Crocs ice hockey – Kangaroos vs Penguins

Selected photos from the last period of the Pee Wee Crocs division ice hockey game between the Kangaroos and the Penguins played at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia on 25/10/2020.  First blood went late in the period at 6:20 remaining to the Penguins as Dominik Trnka scored with the assist going to Damon von Einem.  A tripping penalty to Penguins von Einem would give the Kangaroos the chance to equalise but they were unable to and the score remained at 1-0 in favour of the Kangaroos.  Shots on goaltenders was Penguins Knapp 4, Kangaroos goaltender Isaac Berthalot 3.

In the second period the Kangaroos would bounce back (groan) as Nikita Loria rifled one past Penguins goaltender Riley Knapp, unassisted.  Shortly later the Ilya Truuse would give the Kangaroos a 2 goal buffer after receiving an assist from Micah Ung at 11:15.  A hooking penalty to the Kangaroos Jeremy Gagnon at 9:05 would give the Penguins a chance to strike back, but they weren’t able to capitalise on the player advantage.  Penguins Callum Shea would be called for an illegal hit at 6:15, but their defence held firm during the penalty kill.  The Kangaroos would continue stifling the Penguin’s offence though and added another goal when big Loria scored unassisted at 2:11 to take the scoreline to 3-1 at the second break.  Shots on goal Penguins Knapp 3, Kangaroos Berthalot 5.

The last period it was raining goals!  The Penguins would stroke first at 13:45 to close the gap to 2-3, but the Kangaroos reply wasn’t far away.  Loria would earn a hat trick at 12:10 after an assist from Jack Fode.  The Kangaroos would extend the lead to 5-2 at 8:00, when Loria again scored unassisted.  Can anyone stop this goal scoring machine?  A hooking penalty to Penguins Callum Shea at 6:51 didn’t help their cause, and the Kangaroos took advantage of the extra player only 9 seconds later as Jack Fode scored unassisted.  The Kangaroos 8th goal would come not long afterwards at 4:47 remaining as Loria scored goal No. 5 in his personal tally, unassisted again.  With the score at a 8-2 blowout the Penguins needed something special to rectify that ugly scoreline.  They found it in Trnka as he scored one past Berthalot at 2:27 remaining, scoring unassisted.  The Penguins tidied up the scoreline some more in the last 30 seconds as Yongen Song scored with the assist going to Amber Bedell.  Shots on goal for the period was Penguin’s Knapp 11, Kangaroos’ Berthalot 10.
