25/10/2020 Pee Wee Roos ice hockey – Senators vs Panthers

Selected photos from the Pee Wee Roos division ice hockey game between the Panthers and the Senators played on 25/10/2020 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia.  After a confident 3-2 win over the Senators after they acquired Senators Diamond Cross, the Panthers headed into this game full of confidence.  Panthers goaltender Riley Knapp was coming into the game after having just standing in the pipes for the Penguins in the Pee Wee Crocs game minutes before!  The first period was tight with neither team able to score until the Senators found a way past the Panthers defence and goaltender Knapp with 5:58 remaining in the period.  The goal was scored by relative new team member Max Marquardt with the assist from Zeth Wyngarde, who was keeping his healthy tally of assists ticking along nicely.  The Panthers managed to put a fair few shots on Senators goal tender Brodie Clarke but he was up to the task every time.  No more goals were scored for the period and the players stayed out of penalty trouble.  Shots of goal for the periods were, Panthers Knapp facing 2 shots, Senators Clarke facing 8 shots.

The 2nd period saw both teams matching with plenty of good offensive play matched by defensive play, ensuring the game stayed tight and neither team could dominate.  Eventually, the Panthers would level the score at 1-1 with Cross scoring unassisted.  He would add to this with another unassisted goal to take the Panthers to a 2-1 lead going into the last break.  Even with a tripping penalty to Panthers Lucas Kennedy, the Senators were unable to find a way past the Panthers defence.  Shots on goal were Panthers Knapp facing 3 shots, Clarke again facing 8 shots.  The Senators would need to get some more shots on goal to have any chance.

In the 3rd period, the Senators would tie up the game early when the dominant goal scorer Luka Loria scored at 13:05, unassisted.  The 2-all deadlock would remain until with 2:01 remaining, Panthers hard working Ricki Sinclair put one past Senators goaltender Clarke and it looked like the Panthers were heading for another 3-2 win.  However, with the Senators bench getting raucous looking down the barrel, Loria would find something special and even the score with only 46 seconds remaining in the game.  Both teams could go off the ice with their heads held high in an entertaining even game.  Shots on goal for the period were Panthers Knapp facing 3, Senators Clarke facing 10 shots!  Shots on goal for the game showed a very one-side equation of Panthers 26, Senators 8.
