5/11/2020 Pee Wee Roos division ice hockey – Panthers v Senators 4-2

Some of the photos from the Pee Wee Roos division ice hockey game between the Panthers and Senators played on 05/11/2020 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia.  Senators coach George Loria found himself with a team short of players just prior to the start of the game, which meant either having to double shift players or borrow players from other divisions and levels.  Elliot and Issabella Buley and David Loria were out and this gave the opportunity for Novice players Jordan Sparrow and Plato Minyaev to play in the big league.  Both were eager beavers and mixed it well with the older kids right out of the box.  Panthers Wade Patterson would open the scoring at 10:47 after receiving assists from Naomi Gagnon and Max Leong.  With less potent firepower up forward after Diamond Cross was shifted to the Panthers, the Senators struggled somewhat, especially with the energy that the missing players often bring to the game.  At 7:15, the Panther found another opportunity after a Senators player accidently played the puck back to his goalie who wasn’t in on the game plan resulting in an own goal.  The goal was awarded to Gagnon.  The Senators finally found a late opportunity to peg one back when Luka Loria scored unassisted with just 17secs remaining in the period.  Shots on goal, Panthers Riley Knapp facing 5, Senators Brodie Clarke facing 6.

The second period again saw the Panthers have the ascendancy early and at the 13 mins mark they restored the 2-goal buffer with Max Leong scoring, unassisted.  No more scores and also no penalties for the remainder of the period, with the Panthers outshooting the Senators 7 to 1.

The third period saw the Senators lifting and matching the Panthers, but it would be the Panthers to capitalise first, Luke D’Onise scored unassisted at the 9:59 mark.  The Senators would find themselves in penalty trouble a short time later at 9:15 when Zeth Wyngarde was caught for roughing after dispatching Wade Patterson to the ice with a Panthers team mate falling over the top of him.  However, the Senators found something special despite the player disadvantage and scored with 8:20 remaining when Luka Loria scored again, unassisted.  There was no change on the score for the rest of the period and the Panthers were worthy 4-2 winners.  Shots on goal for the game was Pantehrs Riley Knapp facing 14, to Senators Brodie Clarke facing 19.
