15/11/2020 Pee Wee Crocs division grand final – Penguins vs Kangaroos 5-4OT

Selected photos from the Pee Wee Crocs division ice hockey Grand Final game between the Penguins and Kangas played on 15/11/2020 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia.  The first period saw the Penguin go out to a 2-1 lead with goals to Elijah Kelly (unassisted) and his sister Poppy Kelly with the assist going to Amber Bedell and Dominik Trinka.  For the Kangas, it would be Jeremy Gagnon scoring after an assist from Elana Holub.  Both teams stayed out of penalty trouble.  Penguins goalie Zac Mirfin faced a barrage of shots, 13 for the period.  For the Kangas, goalie Isaac Berthalot faced 7 shots.

The Kangas would score the only goal of the second period deep into the period, levelling the score at 2-all.  Nikita Loria scored the goal with an assist from Hudson Elze.  Only one penalty in the period went to Penguins Gabriel Koudelka for tipping with 3:00 mins remaining in the period.  Shots on goal were, Penguins Mirfin facing 9 shots, Kangas Berthalot facing 10 shots.

The 3rd period was even with both teams adding a goal to their tallies.  Penguins Trinka would score a goa of his own, unassisted.  Kangas Blake Ung would score after an assist from Lachlan Henly.  With barely time remaining in the period Kangas Ung would be called for tripping with 5 seconds left in the game.  With the score at 3-3 the game would go into to shootout to decide the result.

Penguins goalie Mirfin managed to hold out the Kangas by one more than Kangas goalie Berthalot to take the win and the cup.
