Photos from Pee Wee Division 1 action on 11/07/2021. Huskies would be without Gabriel Koudelka, David Loria and Emma Eldhose, while the Jets would be without the firepower of Luka Loria, as well as Poppy Kelly and Callum Shae. Huskies Luke D’onise was promoted from Div2 and would get a taste of Div 1 action. The first period started relatively even although the Jets would post double the shots on goal in then end putting the Huskies defence under pressure to aid goaltender Riley Knapp. Jets Anika Wegund headed to the penalty box for tripping at 10:29 left in the period giving the Huskies the player advantage. However, the Jets managed to score shorthanded with just under 10mins left in the period. Elijah Kelly scored with assists from Hudson Elze and Yongen Song. Then with seconds remaining Song put one past goaltender Knapp after an assist from Elijah Kelly.
The Jets gameplan started to click and Wegund got into the action, scoring her second goal for the season with 12:50 on the clock. The assists were from Etienne Janovsky and Elze. The Huskies were struggling to get past goaltender Mirfin despite having more shots on goal in this period. The Jets would give the Huskies something to think about by scoring their 4th goal with a bit over 10mins remaining in the period as Kelly scored, unassisted. The late penalties to the Jets Janovsky (tripping) and Jasmine Chen (hooking) gave the Huskies a chance to get on the scoreboard, and this they did with 1:11 remaining in the period. Goalscorer was Jack Fode, with assists from Ilya Truuse and Jeremy Gagnon. Would this be the start of a comeback from the Huskies?
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, with the Jets totally dominating the period with 4 additional goals. Goalscorers for the Jets were Song, unassisted at 12:10, Song again unassisted at 10:12, Kelly from Elze at 2:44 and finally Elze himself, unassisted with 1:22 left in the game. Up to now the Pee Wee Div1 games have been very tight with usually a goal in it, but something just clicked for the entire Jets team with Lachlan Henly and Jordan Kutsche also making valuable contributions. The usual goalscorers for the Huskies, Jack Fode, Jeremy Gagnon, Ilya Truuse and Mickey Nottle were somehow unable to get past Mirfin today. Shots on goal were Huskies Knapp facing 26 shots, and Jets Mirfin facing 19 shots.
