Some of the photos from the Sunday of the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival. The event was back again after a few years absence caused by Covid-19 and less support from government at the time. The event is a combination of sprint races and demonstrations laps run on a section of the Supercars/F1 circuit of Adelaide in Victoria Park and using Wakefield Street, and displays.
The Saturday was a dry day, so that all categories were able to compete or demonstration laps completed including the 1960’s Brabham Formula 1 car.
The Sunday saw a change in the weather, and the wet track meant that some categories could not run or be displayed as the cars only had slick tyres for the weekend. The public would miss out on seeing the Formula 1 cars and V8 Supercars as a result, except for the Leyton House Formula 1 car whose owners had the foresight to bring a set of intermediate tyres. Some of the other categories were run as alternatives, namely the Drift category.
These photos were taken to show some of the conditions the drivers had top contend with, and some of the cars on display, and a rather relaxed Stefan Johansson (ex-F1 driver) rather than the full action like Saturday’s photos.
Spectators were treated to Valtteri Bottas driving an Alfa Romeo and the Stix sponsored ex-V8 Supercar, including donuts! Sign him up quick for Supercars.
