Blackwood Inline A Grade : Burners 3 v Vipers 8
First game was covered was the A grade game between the Vipers and the Burners. The Vipers would dominate the Burners, 8 goals to 3, with 4 of their goals coming in the 4th period. The Burners were missing the services of Trent (Reggie) Mattschoss, playing for Australia Masters teams in the World Inline Hockey Masters Championships. Vipers were without Steve Best (playing for the Adelaide Adrenaline ice hockey in Canberra at the new AIS Ice Rink) and Gavin Best (playing for Australia Masters team in the World Inline Hockey Masters Championships).
Goaltenders were Alex Palmer for the Burners, and Scott Elliot for the Vipers. Goals scored: Vipers – Ethan Norman (3 goals), Nicholas Pedder (3 goals), Liam Yorke, Sean Wilson-Kelleher, 5 assists to Sean Wilson-Kelleher, 2 assists to Nicholas Pedder; Burners – Darren Corstens (3 goals) and 3 assists to Troy Collins. Alex Palmer faced 27 shots and Scott Elliot faced 33 shots.
Blackwood Inline A Grade : Vintage Reds 4 v Phantoms 3
Second game covered saw the top of the table Vintage Reds take on the development team, the Phantoms. Zac Steele was into the Phantoms team after a long absence from inline hockey. The close game resulted a one-goal result in favour of the more experienced Vintage Reds. Goaltenders were Angus Schuppan for the Phantoms, and Olio Albon for the Vintage Reds.
Goals scored: Vintage Reds – Tyson Pope (2 goals), Seamus Bilberry (2 goals), 2 assists to Kingsley Hughes ; Phantoms – Rory Moffat, Connor Smith, Zac Steele, 2 assists to Andrew Glass. Stars for the game: 1st star Tyson Pope, 2nd star Sam Schuppan, 3rd star Kingsley Hughes. Oli Alboin faced 20 shots, and Angus Schuppan faced 25 shots.
Blackwood Inline B Grade : Rockstars 5 v Jokers 1
Last game for the day was the B Grade game between last season’s B grade champions the Rockstars, and the Jokers currently sitting at the bottom of the ladder. The Rockstars in the middle of the pack needed a good win to stay in touch with the in-form Tree Roots and Hornets teams in the comp (who had just played out a 2-2 draw earlier). The Rockstars would be without the services of Max Leong. The Rockstars would dominate the game, winning 5 goals to 1.
Borrowed goaltenders for the game were Ethan Acres for the Rockstars and Angus Schuppan for the Jokers. Goals scored: Rockstars – Seth Anspach (3 goals), Andrew Weger, Isaac Miller, and 2 assists to Jordan Kutsche and 2 assists to Max Coleman. Ethan Acres faced 16 shots and Angus Schuppan faced 31 shots.
