2024 Kings Cup Inline Hockey Tournament – Finals

The 2024 Kings Cup Inline Hockey tournament was held at Blackwood Recreation Centre (home of the Blackwood Blaze inline hockey club) on the weekend of the Kings Birthday long weekend (June 8, 9 and 10), which also coincided with the birthday of tournament organiser Peter King…coincidence or not?  With only one Division 1 team nominating to play, the tournament was left with only Div 2 and Div 3 competitions which changed names to Div 1 and Div 2 respectively.  Each Division had teams from Blackwood Blaze club, North Vikings (Gawler) club and some teams from Victoria (Bendigo and Sunshine).  Each team would play each other in round round series over the Saturday and Sunday before finals on Monday.  Teams that had played on other surfaces such as polished concrete or sports court tiles had to get accustomed to the basketball court surface at Blackwood, and also having to play 4-on-4 hockey if they were used to 3-on-3 hockey.

Division 1 had 8 teams: Jokers, Boo-urns, Mercenaries (Victoria), Rockstars, North Vikings, Trash Pandas, Hornets and Blackwood Benders – winners = Jokers

Division 2 had 6 teams: Lumberjacks SA, Lumberjacks Vic, Bendigo Drop Bears, Mighty Pucks, Adelaide Jaguars (all female) and Firebirds (all female) – winners = Lumberjacks Vic

This series of photos features Finals that the Blackwood-based Mighty Pucks, Rockstars and Boo-urns teams played in on the Monday.
