5/08/2023 AIHL Adelaide Adrenaline v CBR Brave 3-13

Some of the photos taken from the Australian Ice Hockey League game between Adelaide Adrenaline and CBR (Canberra) Brave played on 5/08/2023 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia.  Adrenaline would have Jeremy Friederich as their starting goaltender, and for the Brave would be Aleksi Toivonen, with Adelaide based goal tender Andrew Glass in reserve.  The teams sat at opposite ends of the ladder so it would be a tall ask for the younger Adrenaline side.  The first 5 goals went the way of the Brave with 5 different scorers, all with 7mins still to play in the period!  Then the Adrenaline struck back with 2 goals (Julian Friederich and Brett Radford scoring) to bring some respectability to the scoreline.  The Adrenaline made a goaltender change.  Penalties did not help the Adrenaline’s cause receiving 4, to the Brave’s on penalty.  Shots on goal for the period were the Brave shooting 13 on Friederich and 6 to Matus Trnka, with Brave’s Toivenen facing only 6 shots.

The 2nd period the Adrenaline turned up the wick and it was a lot tighter with only 3 goals being scored in the period.  Brave’s Austin Albrecht and Felix Plouffe scoring one each and Adrenaline’s Brett Radford scoring his second for the night.  Penalties likewise were far and between, with two being given to Brave players, and one to an Adrenaline player.  Shots on goal for the period saw Adrenaline’s Trnka face 10 shots to Toivonen facing 11 shots.

Unfortunately the Adrenaline team could not continue the momentum they had found in the 2nd period and it all fell in a heap.  Morris O’Handley’s 3 penalties would not help their plight.  The Brave piled on 6 unanswered goals.  Shots on goal for the game saw the Adrenaline goaltenders face a mammoth 52 shots while Brave’s Toivonen faced 22.  Penalty minutes told the story too, with the Adrenaline racking up 26 mins to the Brave’s player’s time in the sin bin of only 6 minutes.
