11/08/2024 IHSA Premier League Blackhawks v Jokers 6-4

Some Adelaide Winter League Club Ice Hockey action after photographing the Australian Ice Hockey League this year again.  Premier League game between the Blackhawks and the Jokers is featured here.   First period saw the Blackhawks take the early lead through Paul Joyce (assist Lucas Grist) only for the Jokers to level the score a minute and half later when Jake Riley scored unassisted.  Then with 6mins remaining in the period Jared Siemens got the go-ahead goal (assist Tyson Boyd) and the Blackhawks held the lead for 4mins when Jake Riley scored his second for the game (assist Josh Winkler) with 2mins remaining.

Second period was even with end to end hockey until the 11:21 mark when Jake Riley scored his hat trick goal (assist Bryce Wallis) for the Jokers to put them in front.  They held the one goal lead until Trent (Reggie) Mattschoss scored at the 9:44 mark (assist Lucas Grist).  He backed this up with another goal a minute and a half later to put the Blackhawks back up by one (assists Lucas Grist and James Hearne).  A penalty to Caleb Staehr for hooking at 5:12 gave the Jokers the powerplay and Jordan Geyer made use of the man advantage to level the score a minute later (assists Ambrose Foster and Jake Riley).  The Blackhawks weren’t done yet and in the dying seconds of the period went ahead again with Joshua Holland scoring from a James Hearne assist.

The third period was tight but the Blackhawks got the jump early to go 2-goals up when Lucas Grist scored at 15:11 (assists Tyson Boyd and Mathew Lothian).  Two late penalties to Blackhawks Joshua Holland (for hooking at 2:00) and Tyson Boyd (for hooking at 0:34) gave the Jokers a chance to strike back, but the Blackhawks weren’t to be denied on this occasion.  The win got them closer to the Jokers just above them on the ladder.  Shots on goal for the game were Blackhawks 30 to the Jokers 25.
