Some of the photos from the Australian Ice Hockey League game between the Adelaide Adrenaline and the Central Coast Rhinos played on 14/06/2025 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia. The Adrenaline were hoping to finally record their first home win of the season after facing plenty of stiff opposition so far. However, they had recently stolen the CBR Brave’s glory by recording the first ever win at the new Australian Institute of Sport’s ice rink in Canberra so were coming into this game with some confidence. The team had recently been bolstered with Latvian import Romans Nekludovs (who had played in Latvia and France) and the returning crowd favourite import Coy Prevost (Adrenaline’s 2023 season) and Cale Dolan, the goaltender. Cale Dolan would start in net for the Adrenaline with Sam Poole as standby goaltender. The Central Coast had French import Aziz Baazzi who had played several seasons at the top league Ligue Magnus in France, ex-Adrenaline import Alexander Gauthier, explosive Canadian Ryan Migliaccio and Tomas Landa (Sydney Bears) and not forgetting the two Kuleshov brothers Dimitri and Ivan. Starting in goals would be Justin Harrison, with local goaltender Cooper Davidson-Peacock as reserve. If the Adrenaline could manage 2 wins on the weekend, they would be nipping at the heels of CBR Brave and the Newcastle Northstars. The Rhinos had beaten the Adrenaline 5-4 at home, last time they met.
As expected, the intensity of the two teams was obvious, with both teams were looking to stay off the dreaded bottom of the ladder. The Rhinos found themselves in penalty trouble early, with Scott Dewar (slashing at 15:28) and Tomas Landa (hooking at 10:11 and hooking at 7:45) giving the Adrenaline the powerplay. The Adrenaline grabbed the opportunity and hammered the Rhinos goaltender. Remy McGuinness would score the game opener, a powerplay goal, for the Adrenaline at 13:33 (assists marcel McGuinness and Daniel Koudelka) and Zach Boyle their second, also a powerplay goal at 6:58 (assist Marcel McGuiness). The Adrenaline were relentless, firing shot after shot on the Rhinos goaltender Harrison. The Adrenaline’s momentum was halted at 3:52 when Ryan Migliaccio scored their first (assists Gauthier and Shai Rabinowitz). Shots on goal told the story, Adrenaline 25 shots to the Rhinos 3 shots.
The 2nd period started with Adrenaline’s Nekludovs adding their 3rd goal at 16:15 (assists Josh Adkins and Koudelka). Both teams were managing to stay out of the penalty box, despite the intensity of the play, until Adrenaline’s Nikita Loria fell foul of the referees with a slashing penalty given at 10:58. No sooner had the penalty finished the Rhinos would score their 2nd goal at 8:49 (assists Mackenzie Bolger, Timothy Rye). Their joy was short lived as Adrenaline import Josh Adkins would increase the goal margin to 2 again at less than a minute later (assists Nekludovs, Nathaniel Benson). There was no change to the score for the rest of the period. Noticeably, the Rhinos were able to stop the barrage of shots on goal and planted plenty of their own. Shots on goal for the period, Adrenaline 11, Rhinos 9.
The Adrenaline were fired up in front of their vocal home crowd. Barely 2minutes into the period, Coy Prevost increased the margin to 3 goals (assists Daniel Chen, Kyle MacPhail). Penalties at 14:06 (Rhinos David Quinn for tripping) and at 10:21 (Adrenaline’s Steve Best for hooking) made no change to the scoreline as each team’s penalty kill units held firm. Adrenaline’s Nekludovs would add their 6th goal at 8:05 (assists Adkins, Benson) making the task for the Rhino’s almost out of reach. The game was somewhat soured as Rhinos Tyler Kubara and his Adrenaline opponent both dived for the puck, but Kubara would land awkwardly and pop out a shoulder and take no further part in the game, or the weekend. The Adrenaline had been giving their younger players, such as Nikita Loria, Luka Loria and Dominik Trnka plenty of ice time and the youthful exuberance was obvious, using every opportunity to prove themselves in the big league. Trnka would be rewarded as he scored the Adrenaline’s 7th goal at 5:16 (assists Boyle and Nikita Loria). This brought about the change of goaltenders and Cooper Davidson-Peacock was thrown into the fray for the Rhinos. He managed to stave off any shots on goal. Late penalties to Adrenaline’s Zach Boyle (interference) and Darcy Flanagan (roughing) gave the Rhinos a chance to make the score a bit less daunting but they were unable to score. Shots on goal for the game was a massive 47 to the Adrenaline to the Rhinos 21.
