Selected photos from the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) game between the Adelaide Adrenaline and Melbourne Mustangs played on 12/07/2026 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia. Cale Dolan, was in the net for the Adrenaline and Sebastian Woodlands for the Mustangs. In the 1st period the Mustangs would score 2 goals through Philippe Caron and Joey Hughes, with the Adrenaline unable to find a way past Wodolands. Onoly a single penalty was handed out, to Mustangs veteran Joey Hughes for hooking seconds into the game. Shots on goal for the period: Mustangs 11, Adrenaline 6.
Second periods saw only one goal scored, that to Mustangs Japanese star, Yuki Sasaki (assists Callum Burns and Lachlan Sucher). The only penalty handed out was a team penalty to the Adrenaline for a delay of game, with 2 seconds remaining, giving the Mustangs the powerplay going into the 3rd period. Shots on goal for the period: Mustangs 14, Adrenaline 6. The Adrenaline again struggling to put shots on past the Mustangs defence.
The 3rd period saw the floodgates open for the Mustangs as they put on 6 goals (Davide Gaeta with 4 goals in one period!, Lachlan Sucher and Philippe Caron). Matt Doresy and Brody Lindal combined for the assists in 3 of those goals. Penalties to the Adrenaline weren’t the issue, it would just be the Mustangs putting it altogether on a deflated and dejected Adrenaline having a horror year, not helped by recent critical journalism, kicking them when they were already down. The shattered looks on the faces of Adrenaline players leaving the ice after having played their hearts out for no reward in one particular shift said it all. With the game well and truly gone the Adrenaline gave junior players Damon von Einem and Yongen Song more ice time to gain valuable experience. Besieged Adrenaline goaltender Cale Dolan would return to the bench, replaced by Jeremy Friederich. With 3mins remaining in the game, Zac Boyle shot a long shot from the blue line and scored in a gaping hole on the right side of goaltender Seb Woodlands (assists Steve Best and Nathaniel Benson). The home crowd went absolutely ballistic, such is the fantastic support from the Adelaide people, despite where the Adrenaline find themselves on the ladder. Every game has been a sellout! . Shots on goal for the period: Mustangs 21, Adelaide 9. The double win for the Mustangs takes them to 3rd overall on the ladder.
