Premier League – Game 1 Tigers v Redwings 4-3OT
As the Blackhawks B Grade had wrapped up their Championship in 2 games, the Premier League Grand Final Game 1 would open the games on Sunday 13/09/2026. Redwings and Tigers were contesting this series. Goaltenders for Game 1 were Redwings Riley Knapp, and Tigers Paul Kluske. It would take until the 7:25 mark in the 1st period before the 1st goal was scored, through Tigers Luka Loria. Joey MacDougall would add another to the Tigers tally a minute later. Dave Gal would get the Redwings within one goal at the 8:36 mark of the 2nd period, before Tigers Tyler Boyle would restore the 2 goal margin a minute later. With 3mins left in the 2nd period recent Adrenaline retiree Steve Best would get the Redwings back to one goal behind. The game was winded down to what looked like a Tigers win, when at 2:39 remaining Redwings Grady O’Brien would tie things up and send the game to Overtime. With 2:45 remaining Tigers Jack Fode would score the game winner for the Tigers to take out Game 1. Game 2 of the series was held on Friday 18/09/2026. Goaltenders were Paul Kluske for the Tigers, and Brodie Clarke for the Redwings. Both teams fielded short benches (7 and 8 skaters). The 1st period saw 7 goals get scored, Tigers 3 and Redwings 4. Andrew Stapleton had got the Tigers level early in the 2nd period, but then period Steve Best went ballistic adding a hatrick along with Tom Tait and Kyle MacPhail to have the Redwings up by 5 goals at the final break. The onslaught would continue in the 3rd period as Steve Best would add another 4 goals with Dave Gal scoring his hattrick. Final blowout score was Redwings 14, Tigers 4. However, it has to be said that the Tigers goaltender is a recognised B Grade goaltender against the skill of a recent ex-Adrenaline star in Steve Best.
A Grade – Game 3 Tigers v Blackhawks 3-4
No rest for the wicked as Game 3 on Sunday followed Game 2 only the day before for the A Grade and C Grade teams. An even 1st period with a penalty to Blackhawks Mitch McClean going to the penalty box for tripping not resulting in a score. But when Baxter Prosser went for roughing at 5:09 that gave the Tigers the powerplay again and Devan Seamans would make use of it to score the first goal of the game. With under a minute to play Ryan O’Handley would score to give the Tigers a 2-goal buffer at the 1st break. The Blackhawks saw themselves in penalty trouble in the 2nd period, however scored the next two goals, shorthanded to tie things up at the 12:35 mark (goals scored by Chris Stanton and Troy Collins). With under a minute left in the period Blackhawks Chad Wilson would put the noses in front and give them momentum for the last period. Tigers Stu Henly would receive a tripping penalty early in the 3rd period and Tyson Boyd would make good use of the powerplay to give the Blackhawks a 2-goal lead. Then a plethora of 5 penalties to Blackhawks players gave the Tigers a real chance of getting back into the game and causing the Blackhawks some hurt. However, Tigers Stu Henly would score the Tigers 3rd goal without the benefit of a powerplay at 8:42. The Blackhawks would have to protect this slender 1-goal lead for the remainder of the period and that they did despite the Tigers onslaught to give the Blackhawks Club their 2nd IHSA Championship of the year after the B’s had wrapped up theirs the night before.
C Grade – Game 3 Blackhawks v Jokers 3-2OT
The Jokers were looking at wrapping up the fairytale run in the 2026 finals against last year’s premiers the Blackhawks. With 9mins remaining in the period Dylan Klose would get the first goal of the game, for the Jokers. Three minutes later things were all tied up at one-a-piece when Blackhawks captain Michael Sinclair scored. The Jokers had dominated the shots on goal count 12 to 4, but Blackhawks goaltender Justin Ruston was able to bat away shot after shot. The 2nd period was even was grinding down to a scoreless period when with 2mins remaining, Blackhawks Greg Foot put one past Jokers netminder Greg Eden to give them some momentum for the last period. Goals were hard to come by as both goaltenders and their respective defence players were excellent. Shots on goal were 5 to 4 in favour of the Jokers. In the 3rd period the Blackhawks struggled to get past the Jokers defence and would only put one shot on. The Jokers on the other hand landed 9 shots on goal including a powerplay goal to Bradley Rowe to send the game into overtime. Game 1 had needed a shootout to find a result and it was looking the same for Game 3, until Blackhawks Vanya Golusin shattered the dreams of the Jokers with 38secs remaining in the overtime period and given the Cs back-to-back championships. The Blackhawks Club had done the impossible, winning all grades championships they had contested in 2026.
