Selected photos from the Ice Hockey South Australia C Grade Winter Season Ice Hockey game between Redwings and Blackhawks played on 26/07/2026 at the Ice Arena, Adelaide, South Australia. This year marks the 60th year anniversary for both of the teams, that began playing at the diminutive Hindley Street St Moritz Rink as a 3-on-3 competition. In goal for the Redwings was Russell King, and for the Blackhawks, Justin Ruston. The Blackhawks needed a win to secure a spot in the C Grade Grand Final. Redwings were last on the ladder. In the 1st period the teams were evenly matches and no goals were scored. A penalty went to Blackhawks Rhys Wildman for high-sticking. Shots on goal: 5 to 4 in favour of the Blackhawks.
The 2nd period was tight, but the Blackhawks Lora West found a way past Redwings netminder King at the 12:36 mark, with assists coming from Arjuna Ravindran and Michael Sinclair. Justin Brinkies went to the Blackhawks penalty box for a body-check at 2:33 but there was no change to the score in this low-scoring game. Shots on goal saw the Redwings dominate 7 shots to 3.
The 3rd period started with a quick goal to Blackhawks Greg Foot (assist Justin Brinkies) a few seconds into the period. Plenty of time for the Redwings to mount a challenge to the 2-goal lead. A penalty to Henry Wenk at 15:49 for interference didn’t help their cause, but this was negated by a penalty to Blackhawks Nathaniel Baird for boarding at 11:48. The Blackhawks penalty kill unit saw off the penalty and the Blackhawks took the win and into the Grand Final. Shots on goal for the period: Redwings 8, Blackhawks 7.
