Some photos from the Blackwood Blaze Inline Hockey Club’s Winter Season played on 16/08/2026 at the Blackwood Recreation Centre, Blackwood, South Australia.
First up is the A Grade game between the top of the table Burners and new team on the block, bottom placed Wombats. A Grade games are played as two 20mins periods. Goaltenders for the game were Alex Palmer for the Burners and Stoyan Shopov for the Wombats. The Burners would predicably dominate this one, scoring the first 4 goals (Tyson Boyd, Josh Holland (2), Reece Boundy) up to the halfway mark of the period before the Wombats would score their first through Quentin Tombleson at the 8:56 mark. A minute later and the Burners Tyson Boyd would score his second goal, following by Josh Holland with a hat trick goal with 3mins to play. With under a minute left before the halftime break, the Wombats struck back twice, first through Simon Jarrad and then Tombleson again. The 2nd half was one way traffic as the Burners piled on 4 unanswered goals (Trent Mattschoss (2), Rory Moffat, Josh Holland), before Simon Jarrod scored the Wombats 4th goal on the final siren. Shots on goal for the game: Burners 38, Wombats 18.

A Grade – Burners v Wombats 10-4 (photos from the last period)
Game 2 featured here was between B grade’s 2nd placed Tree Roots and 4th placed Rock Stars. Rock Stars needed a win as they face a tight race for the 4th finals spot against the Rhinos just below them. B grade games are played as four 12 minute periods. In goals for the Tree Roots was Alex Palmer, coming off his A grade game just before this one. Rocks Stars goaltender was Jase Hill. Rockstars Isaac Miller would open the scoring barely into the game when a wild shot somehow beat goaltender Palmer. Thirty five seconds later Tree Roots Aaron Collier levelled things up (assist mark Sunczyk). With 3:40 left in the period, Sunczyk would score a goal of his own (assist Jared Lowe) to give them a goal lead in this tight encounter. The Tree Roots had hammered goaltender Jase Hill with 9 shots on , to the Rockstars 2 shots at the other end. Second period there were no goals scored such was the tightness of both teams and excellent goaltending. Then with a mere 6secs remaining in the 3rd period Jordan Kutsche levelled things up again (assist Andrew Weger). The Rockstars had dominated the shot count 9 to 2. Both teams were unable to find a way past the opposition’s defence and goaltenders in the last period, despite the Tree Roots putting 8 shots on, so the game ended in a 2-all tie. The Rockstars remaining in 4th place at the end of Sunday’s games.
B Grade – Tree Roots v Rockstars 2-2
Last game featured here was the A grade game between the Crocs and the Vipers. Goaltenders were Seth Anspach for The Crocs, and Scott Elliot for the Vipers. The Crocs would score 2 goals in the 1st period (Brad Chenoweth, Daniel Strawbridge) to the Vipers one goal (Nicholas Pedder). Jordan Geyer would give the Crocs an early 3-1 lead in the 2nd period, before the Vipers kicked up a gear, and Ethan Norman would score back-to-back goals at 12:31 and 9:03 mark of the period. Gavin Best would score with 4mins left in the game to put the Vipers noses in front. Despite have far less shots on goal the Vipers would take out this tight encounter 4-3. Shots on goal for the game: The Crocs 34, Vipers 20.
