2025 BP Adelaide Grand Final Supercars

Adelaide hosted the Supercars Grand Final this year with an exciting Supercars Finals Series format run on the part street circuit (part of the legendary Adelaide Grand Prix circuit of 1985-1995) between 27-30 November 2025.  The finals series comprised 7 races, with the Grand Final concept pitting the top 4 Drivers leading the championship to go head to head in 3 races to crown the 2025 Supercars Champion.  Prizes were on offer for the winners of the races so that non-contenders for the championship could still take a win amidst a year of what could have been.  The Friday race would be 100km, with the Saturday and Sunday races being 250km races.  The four in contention were Chaz Mostert, Brock Feeney, Will Brown and Kai Allen.

Matt Payne (Penrite Racing) would win the race, but Chaz Mostert would be crowned the 2025 Supercars Champion.  This was quite surprising given the Walkinshaw Andretti United team driver’s rather erratic performance in the 27 races prior to the finals series races, where he then would come home with a wet sail finishing high in most of the races to set up a chance for the big one.  It broke the drought for the team, winning first time in 23 years.

Brock Feeney would be his largest challenger going into the series, as he had completed every lap of the season and was had 60 straight lead-lap race finishes.  However, it wouldn’t be his day as reliability of the car and engine failure would be the Red Bull Ampol Racing team driver’s downfall.  He also had a tough start with a spin on the opening lap, and ended up finishing 20th but ending up third in the overall points.

Both Will Brown (Triple Eight Race Engineering) and Kai Allen (Penrite Racing) put up a good fight but their cars would lack the speed to challenge both Mostert or Feeney in the end.  Kai Allen had been impressive in all 7 Finals races, finishing inside the top seven.  Will Brown, the 2024 Champion had to overcame qualifying challenges he had experienced during the year but started each race in Adelaide with a good chance if the top guys were to falter.  One of the questions going into the races, would team mates of the top 4 cause havoc, supporting their higher placed drivers.

The heavens opened up in the Friday afternoon, and a large chunk of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Race 1 was held behind the safety car and then all cars into pit lane with the race red-flagged.  Adelaide local Max Vidau (MVA Racing) was declared the winner in the shortened race.  The Dunlop Super2 Series Qualifying and Red Bull Formula 1 demonstration were called off altogether.

Results from the 3 Supercars races were:

Race 32: 1st – Brodie Kostecki (Shell V-Power Racing Ream), 2nd – Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United), 3rd – Ryan Wood (Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing)

Race 33: 1st – Brock Feeney (Red Bull Ampol Racing), 2nd – Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United), 3rd – Ryan Wood (Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing)

Race 34: 1st – Matt Payne (Penrite Racing), 2nd – Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United), 3rd – Will Brown (Red Bull Ampol Racing)
